ST. CECILIA’S PUBLIC SCHOOL
'SAY NO TO CRACKERS'
We spoil our nights and our days,
And then promise to stop our mean ways.
But our promises never last
Because this Diwali you will again hear the blast,
It’s a way of lighting the sky, we say
But actually it’s the mother Earth, we betray
Lungs are crying, eyes are burned
Still we don’t realize the lesson to be learned
Lets start this auspicious day
Stop burning crackers I pray
One will start, others will follow
To bring more joy and lesser sorrow
This will only be a key solution
In combating the environment pollution
So from this day start the rally,
And celebrate an anti-cracker Diwali
Diwali is a festival of lights that brings joy, peace and happiness. Unfortunately, it has turned into a day of fumes emanating from fire crackers. According to a report, one Diwali night pollutes a city as much as it gets polluted in whole year. Poisonous gases like SO2 Co2 etc are emitted along with lot of dust causing serious disease and health problems. Even the fire crackers contains toxic chemicals like phosphorus and ammonium nitrate.
Reports say that India burns more than 600 crore ruppes every year on Diwali. A contry which sent its mission to Mars in only 450 crore, spends much more every year on fire crackers that too polluting the nature as it worth?
As a responsible citizen of India, students from class VIII to X of St. Cecilia’s Public School, participated in an anti cracker drive, where by a poster making competition was held on 2nd Nov, 2015 the topic ‘Say not to Crackers’.
It was followed by an Anti cracker drive organized by the Eco-Club with in the School premises and in the neighboring areas to spread awareness about the harmful effects of burning crackers. ‘Say no to Crackers’ slogans were enchanted so as to sensitize the community about the evils effects of burning crackers. Students took a pledge not to burn crackers on Diwali to keep the environment clean and green.
