With the dynamically changing landscape of education, the teacher’s role has changed from just a knowledge provider to a deep, innovative facilitator. To embrace this shift, an enlightening and informative Capacity Building Programme (CBP) workshop on Active Learning was organized by St. Cecilia’s Public School on 1st February, 2025. The workshop witnessed the presence of 54 educators, who were keen to probe into the new strategies of teaching learning process.
The resource persons of the event were Dr. Ritika Bhandari from GHPS and Ms. Swati Kapoor from GD Goenka Public School.
The workshop was organized under the competent direction of Principal Inderpreet Bhumra. The impeccable completion of the event is a proof of her strong vision and allegiance to educational innovation.
The workshop commenced with a warm welcome of the Resource Persons and seeking blessings from the Almighty. Handouts were provided to all the teachers, which included a vast number of activities to demonstrate the power of Active Learning through which we can move beyond traditional passive learning methods and focus more on students to take an active role in constructing their knowledge and understanding.
The concept of 5E’s was explained in order to write a perfect lesson plan and to achieve its objectives. A teacher ought to know about a child’s state of mind. To help manage stress and anxiety, videos were shown to demonstrate the importance of Mental Well-being. Furthermore, varied strategies to implement Active Learning were illustrated. Each group of teachers was then tasked to explain a specific strategy, enlisting its pros and cons.
ALAP model, including other 21st century skills were also explained to encompass a wide range of personal, social and cognitive abilities that go beyond memorization and rote learning.
The session under CBSE proved to be an ultimate success. The school aims to encourage all educators to apply such techniques and strategies to foster an environment of continuous growth and advanced learning.
