Cecilians visit USA – NASA
The much awaited USA trip finally took off IGI Airport on 17 th May 2014 with 22 Cecilians along with Ms. Pooja S Mathur (Senior Co-ordinator) and Ms. Mamta Marwah (TGT Chemistry) on board the Emirates connecting flight from New Delhi to Washington DC. The group reached the Washington airport next day afternoon where the group coach was waiting. Everyone was excited and nothing could dampen the spirit of cecilians. From the airport the group landed straight at capital Hill and Lincoln Memorial. Next morning, the group drove around sightseeing in Washington DC, the capital of USA. They visited the SmithSonian National air and Space Museum which maintains the largest collection of historic air and space crafts in the world. The students were spellbound to see the White House, the residence of the President of USA.
Orlando the 6th largest city of Florida was our next stop. They visited the kennedy space centre, where they saw the launch sites of NASA missions, Rocket Garden, I-max movie theatre experience, the shuttle launch simulator as well as lunch with an astronaut with whom the students interacted enthusiastically. The students also visited the world famous Universal Studios and Disneyland in Orlando.
Next the group went to New York city, the capital of the world. A bus tour took us around all of Manhattan when all landed at Time square the students were amazed by the lights of the mega city. The students took for spectacular cruise view of New York skyline and for a close view of famous American icon of freedom – The statue of Liberty, Every sight from Ground Zero, Well Street New York, Stock Exchange, Central Park, Manhattan Brooklyne Bridge – were astonishing.
The students also visited the 56th floor observatory the Empire State Building for a bird’s eye view of the city.
The Next and last stop of the amazing voyage was Boston – beautiful, green and serene. Home of the world’s two best Universities – Harvard University and MIT University. The city amalgamates the old order with the new order. The dream destination of every scholar, Harvard and MIT seemed to have a hypnotic chain on all of us.
Mesmerized with the US voyage, mind filled with futuristic ideas and heart desirous of coming back once more we said bye bye to the American grounds as the group boarded the final Emirates flight to say adieu to America.
