Documentary Analysis 2017

The editorial club of St. Cecilia’s Public School, New Delhi conducted a competition – ‘Documentary Analysis’ with the aim to help students reflect & think. The documentary ‘Two’ by Satyajit Ray was shown to the participants which has no dialogues. It brings forth the behavior of two children who have completely different lifestyle. The challenge for the students was to analyze certain aspects of the documentary with no dialogues.

Students found the documentary quite interesting with their eyes and glued to the screen, they enjoyed watching it with keen observation. They exhibited their urge to write more for the analytical questions given for the judgment. When it came to the speaking part, most of them were quite eager and enthusiastic to share their views with the rest of the participants.

They were familiarized with ways on how to study people and characters with the help of their actions, facial expressions and gestures etc. While the discussion was going on, it was heartening to see that there were several interpretations, disagreements and myriad ways of looking at a particular action or scene.

It was an enriching experience for the participants. It allowed them a platform to unleash their thoughts without hesitation.
