Fire Safety Mock Drill
“Reaffirming the commitment towards fire safety”
A mock fire and evaluation drill involving students and teachers of classes I to XII was conducted on 16th October 2023 to create awareness among the students about fire fighting techniques and the ways to respond swiftly in times of such emergency situation. A demonstration of using fire safety equipment such as fire extinguisher, sand bucket, water bucket etc. was conducted by the teachers from the Disaster Management, committee members to sensitize the staff and students about life saving and rescue techniques in cases of fire.
A group of staff armed with necessary paraphernalia required for fire fighting and rescue operations positioned themselves at vantage points to guide and assist the students in the knock fire and evacuation drill, the evacuation operation started immediately after the fire hooter alarm alerted all and asked to gather at the assembly area in the school ground well within 4.5 minutes.
Madam Principal in her address emphasized that fire drills are an important part of safety procedures. The main aim was to ensure that all Cecilian students and faculty understand what they need to do if there is a fire and to educate and train them for an unforeseen emergency situation.
The objective of the mock drill to prepare all and check the readiness of the school to face any such emergency was successfully achieved. The students and staff appreciated the mock drill and its relevance at the onset of Dussehra/ Diwali season.
