Gurutsav 2014 – Essay writing competition

5th September, the day when one of the greatest teacher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born, is the day when all express solidarity with the teaching community and celebrate the excellence of teachers. This year, to combine the voice of student community and celebrate as well as thank their teachers, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India announced an Essay writing competition to acknowledge the role of teachers in shaping the lives of students.

St. Cecilia’s Public School appreciating the vision, conducted the Gurutsav 2014- Essay writing competition with great vigour from classes III to X on 01.09.14. Almost all students participated in the competition with great glee and gaiety. The competition was held in both languages- English as well as Hindi in the school. The topics centred around the influence of a teacher on the life of a student. The students shared inspiring stories about their relationship with their teachers.

The activity enhanced the thinking power of the students widening their scope to express gratitude. During the competition it was observed that children were able to express freely and without hesitation, the famous saying, ‘Pen is mightier than a sword’ saw light. The ‘Pens’ expressed hidden feelings. The students received on amazing opportunity to express themselves in regard of their favourite teacher.

The event was an outright success.
