St. Cecilia’s Public School

Exploring the principles of leadership

St. Cecilia’s Public School organized a workshop on leadership for class XII and XI Commerce students on 26th July 2013. The spokesperson Ms. Suditi is a well established Corporate trainer. She said that leadership is a process of evolution of self-discovery. We learn leadership through experience, feedback, reflection, role models, theory and by discovering our passions and goals. Within the session leadership was explored as a capacity that all members within a group possess.

The speaker also talked about Leadership theories and their evolution, self-assessment and principles of leadership and discovering one’s passions and setting extreme goals. The Leadership Development Workshop was a set of free active learning opportunities that focused on alternative leadership education methodologies for the overall betterment of the learner.

The Leadership Challenge Workshop proved itself with outstanding reviews from participants and made a real impact on the students. The participants found the concepts and methods easy to understand and use.

Madam Principal Mrs R Bhumra in her address informed the gathering about the benefits of the Leadership Challenge workshop. She said that identifying one’s personal leadership strengths and weaknesses, communicating personal fundamental values and beliefs, setting the example for others by aligning actions with shared values and expressing an image of the future and inspiring others to share a common vision are pre-requisites of being a leader.

The students were of the opinion that the workshop was perfectly timed for the current changes happening within the society; therefore, incredibly appropriate. The students felt energized after the workshop.
