Disaster Management Mock Drill
Conducted in School on 11th feb. 2026
A Disaster Management Mock Drill was successfully conducted in St. Cecilia’s Public school under the ‘Implementation of school contact programme’to make school disaster ready, circular No..F.No.30-3(17)\05\circular\coord\2025\316, dated 17th november 2025 by Directorate of Education.
As per the circular issued by the concerned authorities, the mock drill was conducted in a systematic and well-organized manner, strictly adhering to the given guidelines and instructions on 11th February 2026. A mock drill was conducted inschool premises to create awareness and preparedness among students and staff regarding various natural and man-made disasters. The primary objective of the drill was to educate everyone about safety measures, evacuation procedures, and the importance of remaining calm during emergencies
.As soon as the hooter sounded for the mock drill, the students immediately began moving towards the ground in a calm and orderly manner through the designated exit points. The entire building was evacuated within the minimum possible time of 5 min., demonstrating preparedness, discipline, and effective coordination
The programme commenced with an informative session in which different types of disasters such as earthquakes, fire outbreaks, floods, and medical emergencies were discussed in detail by disaster management incharges. The resource persons explained the causes, warning signs, and potential risks associated with each disaster. Special emphasis was laid on preventive measures and the role of presence of mind in minimizing damage and casualties.
During the earthquake drill, students were instructed to follow the “Drop, Cover, and Hold” technique. It was also demonstrated on stage by teachers as well as students.
In the fire safety demonstration, the proper use of fire extinguishers was shown, and students were guided about safe assembly points. The importance of not panicking, avoiding elevators,lifts and helping younger students was highlighted. Basic first-aid measures and emergency contact protocols were also explained.
Teachers and non-teaching staff actively participated and ensured that evacuation was carried out systematically. The entire drill was conducted under the supervision of the Disaster Management Committee and local safety officials representatives of NDMA making it realistic and informative.
The mock drill was conducted under the complete supervision and able guidance of the Principal, Madam Inderpreet Bhumra who personally oversaw and monitored the entire proceedings to ensure its smooth and effective execution
Techniques of disaster preparedness were discussed and effectively demonstrated by the students, highlighting the appropriate safety measures and preventive steps to be taken during different emergency situations.
The mock drill proved to be highly beneficial as it enhanced confidence, coordination, and awareness among students and staff. It reinforced the idea that preparedness and timely action can save lives. Such initiatives play a crucial role in building a safe and responsible school environment.
Overall, the event was a great success and served as a valuable learning experience for everyone involved.
