Celebrating Remote Sensing Day
On 10.08.18, St. Cecilia’s Public School marked the celebrations of Remote Sensing Day in fond memory of scientist Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. A Drawing Competition on the theme of Remote Sensing was conducted for the students of Class X/XI in the school campus. The event was organized in support with Mahalanobis National Crop Forecast Centre, Department of Agricultural Coop and Farmers’ Welfare of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.
A team of renowned scientists headed by Dr. Shibendu S.Ray, Director, MNCFC alongwith Ms. Preeti Tahlani, Scientist from Space Applications Centre (ISRO) Ahmedabad, Dr. Salini Saxena, Asst. Director MNCFC also spoke to Class XI and XII science stream students awaring them about Remote Sensing in use of satellites for land observations, ocean observations, cartographic applications, atmospheric observations and space science.
The students were enthralled to attend the workshop and witness the powerpoint presentation. The students interacted with spokesperson Dr. Shibendu and expressed and their keenness to know more about the diverse filed of science.
