The 65th  Republic Day Celebrations on

25th January 2014 at St Cecilia’s Public School,Vikas Puri

 


The 65th Republic Day was celebrated with great pomp at St. Cecilia’s Public School, Vikas Puri with complete patriotic zest and fervor. Republic Day is celebrated every year to commemorate the date and moment when the constitution of India came into effect. Indians heart bloom with pride and patriotism on this day. The event was graced by Madam Principal Mrs. R Bhumra who witnessed the programs put up by the students.  She was escorted by the Council members and the Convenors of the student council.
Madam Principal unfolded our tri-colour flag and there by infused the spirit of nationalism and patriotism at the Cecilian campus. A grand March past by senior wing students of Grade 11 led by the student representatives followed. They also raised the slogan of "Jai Hind". They were made aware of various aspects of freedom and fundamental rights as well as duties. The school choir sung the patriotic song “Akash Ganga”.

Entertainment consisted of a skit about the Dandimarch, enacted by the students of middle and senior wing followed by a patriotic song by the participants. The primary students added colour to the programme with a dance to the tune of A.R. Rahman’s Song “Bharath Humko Janse Pyara Hai”. Students of Prep Daffodils, Classes I and II came to school dressed as freedom fighters. They carried the national flag to spread the message of love and peace. The primary wing floor was decorated with tricolor balloons and small national flags that adorned the corridor. Classes III-V presented group choir songs "Nanha Munna Rahi Hoon" and "Ae Watan, Ae Watan, Humko Teri Kasam."

Our honorable chief guest Chairman Sir Prof. Sewa Singh expressed his pleasure in witnessing the program put up by the Cecilians. He spoke about the diverse culture of India.  He took the students to the days when India was struggling for freedom and also spoke about how today India is a progressing country excelling in all fields like Maths, Science and Technology. Today, he said India is a part of BRIC countries, which is expected to rule over the world later. He made an appeal to the students that rural India should be developed. The future of India lies in villages, so the young students should become future leaders to develop our villages. He encouraged the students to pursue their hobbies and have a sense of social responsibility.

The day’s celebration came to an end with Vice-Head girl Priyanka of Class 11proposing the vote of thanks, where the staff and students of St. Cecilia’s were thanked for making the day, a wonderful success. The whole campus came alive with the spirit of patriotism.
