International Year of Light and Soil 2015

“There is no life without Light and Soil…

Both light and soil are necessary ingredients for life to exist”

A Science symposium was held at N. C. Jindal Public School, Punjabi Bagh to mark the occasion of ‘International year of light and soil 2015’ and also pay a tribute to our dear, 11th President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam popularly known as “The missile Man” of India on the occasion of his birth anniversary along with their chemistry teacher, Mrs. Mamta Marwah.

The event was graced by inspirational and motivational speech given by Dr. Braham Singh, who shared his experiences of working with Dr. Kalam. He also explained various methodologies carried out by his team to make DRDO, Leh and Ladakh, a green place.

Prof. Dr. O. P. Tondon from Dep. Of Physics and Astrophysics, DU made audience spell bound with his speech highlighting the technological revolution in our life brought about by substances like semiconductor and Metamaterials. He also explained a few aspects on Nano-technology in making our life comfortable. Futue aspects of Nano-technology were also discussed.

At the end an interactive session was held by Dr. Brahm Singh & Dr. O. P. Tondon quenched the inquisitive thirst of students through a questionnaire round. It was followed by a word of thanks by the School Principal, Dr. D. K. Pandey. The event opened a horizon of scope of research in the field of light and soil, and motivated students to take up these branches of Science as their career to help humankind to live better and sustainable life.
