St. Cecilia’s Public Schoool, Vikaspuri in accordance with guidelines from CBSE and Central Vigilance Commission concluded the vigilance awareness week which began on October 29 and ended on November 3, 2012. The week was celebrated on the theme “Transparency in Public Procurement” to sensitize, and devise strategies for public awareness. It inspires the system to implement preventive measures effectively so that transparency and accountability can be maintained in the governance. The basic motto of this week is to create a corruption free society.
Madam Principal Mrs. R. Bhumra in her inaugural address stressed about the need of creating awareness about integrity, ethics and human values at personal level. She further added that the need of the hour is to remain vigilant about this awareness and after it gets ingrained, it is automatically reflected in day to day life thereby bringing improvement in the society.
Chairman Sir Prof. Sewa Singh also addressed the students. He urged all to be watchful, careful and cautious in all public dealings in their day – to – day work. He added that transparency in the public procurement which encompasses procurement of goods, works and services by organization shall go a long way in curbing corruption. He said that corruption is a national evil that must be uprooted from India to fulfill Vision 2020 of India as a developed nation.
The Cecilian campus started vigilance awareness week celebrations with a pledge by all the staff members and students for eradication of corruption in accordance with the instructions of the Government of India on 29th October. Also during the week, banner and poster making, debates, essay writing and slogan writing competitions were organized for students of classes VI – XII. The banners and posters were made by Classes VI – VIII on the topic ‘Consumer Awareness’ Essay Writing was conducted on the topic ‘Food adulteration and awareness’ for Classes VI – VIII while Classes IX – X wrote on the topic ‘Role of media in bringing Public Awareness’. The debaters and orators entered a word battle on the topic ‘Is e-payment an effective tool in reducing corruption’. A special interactive seminar was also organized for the students on the topic ‘RTI and Transparency in Public Procurement’. The prize winners received accolades, certificates and awards from Madam Principal in a commemorating assembly to bid adieu to the Vigilance Awareness Week.
