A Literary Excursion to the British Council Library
14 October 2026
As an enriching extension of the Cambridge English Qualifications Programme 2025–26, 113 students from Classes II to VIII, who had successfully completed the programme, embarked on an educational visit to the British Council Library, Connaught Place, on 14 October 2026. Accompanied by six teachers, the students departed from the school at 8:00 a.m., looking forward to a stimulating morning of reading, exploration and entertainment.
Upon arrival, the students and accompanying teachers were granted access to the library’s extensive collection of literary resources. The students immersed themselves in the joy of independent reading, exploring books of their choice for an hour. From the delightful tales of Sudha Murty and timeless works of William Shakespeare to captivating children's stories, the young readers explored a diverse literary landscape with remarkable enthusiasm.
The visit continued with a group photograph in the library’s spacious backyard, capturing the spirit of this memorable experience. Separate photographs were taken for the Starters, Movers, Flyers and KET/PET groups, creating cherished keepsakes of their journey with the Cambridge English Qualifications Programme.
The highlight of the excursion was a special movie screening of ‘Dr. Dolittle’ in the library’s theatre. The children were enthralled by the film’s lively characters, engaging storyline and fascinating portrayal of the animal world, complemented by captivating animation. The screening provided a delightful blend of entertainment and learning, leaving the young audience thoroughly engaged.
Students extended their sincere gratitude to Madam Principal for her continued encouragement and for fostering meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom, which broaden their horizons and inspire a lifelong love of learning. Heartfelt appreciation is also extended to the representatives of the British Council Library for thoughtfully organising an engaging and memorable experience for the students.
The visit concluded on a joyful note, leaving the students with treasured memories and renewed enthusiasm for reading, learning and exploring the world of English language and literature.
