St. Cecilia’s Public School

Independence Day Celebration

14.08.2026

“Let us remember that the truest tribute to our freedom is to use it wisely, uphold it proudly and cherish it deeply.”

St. Cecilia’s Public School celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm on 14 August 2026. The celebration brought together students and staff in a spirit of unity, pride and national consciousness.

The entire week leading up to Independence Day was dedicated to celebrating the spirit of freedom through a vibrant array of engaging and meaningful activities. The Indian Cultural Festival was organised to commemorate the joyous occasion, while students participated in activities such as creating stationery boxes in the tricolour theme, dressing up in traditional regional and state costumes, and crafting ‘face portraits’ of freedom fighters using waste materials. These activities provided the students with opportunities to express their creativity while deepening their appreciation for India’s rich cultural heritage and freedom struggle.

The celebration was marked by an overwhelming display of patriotic zeal and national pride. The Pre-Primary Wing participated with remarkable energy, bringing the history of India’s freedom struggle to life through engaging enactments of significant movements and inspiring episodes. With confidence and spirited performances, the little Cecilians beautifully portrayed the courage, sacrifice and determination of the nation’s freedom fighters.

The Primary Wing, dressed resplendently in the colours of the tricolour, added a vibrant touch to the occasion. As the students gathered in the school ground, they witnessed the wonderful March Past by the Student Council which reflected discipline, coordination and patriotic spirit. The ceremony proceeded with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Respected Madam Principal, followed by Ma’am’s inspiring address. Ma’am’s words encouraged the students to uphold the values of integrity, responsibility and service to the nation.

The solemnity of the occasion was further enhanced by the National Pledge, reaffirming the students’ commitment to the ideals of unity and responsible citizenship, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.

The programme continued with a melodious orchestra performance that mesmerized all. Further, the young Cecilians enthralled the audience with a vibrant dance performance, enjoyed by each one present. The Senior students then presented a spirited patriotic dance, celebrating the indomitable spirit and sacrifice of the nation’s freedom fighters. The audience applauded the presentations with a huge round of claps.

A graceful Yoga Presentation showcased the importance of discipline, balance and holistic well-being. Teachers also shared their views on the Indian freedom struggle and encouraged the students to keep the spirit of patriotism alive. The celebration culminated with an energetic dance performance by the Middle Wing students, leaving the audience imbued with a profound sense of national pride.

The week-long celebrations, culminating in the Independence Day ceremony, served as a meaningful reminder that patriotism is not confined to a single day but is reflected through knowledge, values, creativity, responsibility and respect for the nation. The celebrations beautifully brought together the diverse cultural fabric of India and the inspiring legacy of its freedom struggle, encouraging every Cecilian to cherish the hard-earned freedom of the nation.

With hearts filled with pride and renewed determination, the Cecilians carried forward the message of “Nation First”, pledging to contribute towards a stronger, united and progressive India.
