Educational Visit to SEBI
Commerce Club Activity
The Commerce Club of St. Cecilia's Public School organised an educational visit to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), New Delhi on 14 July 2026 for the students of Classes XII(Commerce stream) under SEBI's ‘Investor Education Programme’A total of 40 students participated in the visit, accompanied by Commerce Club Incharge Ms. Nidhi Dhingra and PGT Commerce Ms. Shruti Bhutani.
The visit was organised with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to the functioning of India's securities market regulator and strengthening their understanding of concepts covered in the ‘Financial Markets’ chapter of the Class XII Business Studies curriculum. Such experiential learning opportunities enable students to connect classroom learning with real-world financial practices.
The interactive session was conducted by Mr. Jai Ganesha, who provided valuable insights into SEBI's pivotal role in investor education, investor protection, and the regulation of India's securities market. He elaborated on SEBI's initiatives to promote transparency, fairness, and integrity in the financial markets while fostering investor confidence.
A key highlight of the session was the emphasis on developing sound financial habits from a young age. Students were encouraged to begin investing as early as they become eligible, as disciplined and long-term investing plays a significant role in wealth creation. The importance of portfolio diversification as an effective strategy to minimise investment risk and optimise returns was also explained through practical examples. These valuable insights inspired students to appreciate the significance of financial planning and responsible investing.
The programme concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, during which students enthusiastically interacted with the resource person and clarified their queries regarding financial markets and investment practices. The visit proved to be an enriching learning experience, enhancing students' financial awareness and encouraging them to become informed and responsible investors.
